HealthandSharing.com is a social networking site for healthcare and lifestyle topics. It is our hope that you will help us develop the site into a highly useful and fun environment for you and others who have similar interests in your health issues. As you know, people living with chronic, common or rare, disease become experts in their conditions out of necessity. However the current healthcare system lacks the ability for people with a condition to easily come together to share their expertise, seek new information and participate in an environment of mutual support.

The HealthandSharing.com site provides the opportunity for people, like you, to either initiate a network with a defined environment (CIRCLE) or to join a current CIRCLE. As an early adopter of the site, we would like to invite you to be a CIRCLE leader, by establishing a defined environment within the site, where people with similar interests can join and share information, experiences and even advice. We’ve given you a head start with research and information by pre-defining nearly 6,000 condition, disease and gene specific networks. This will give your CIRCLE the ability to easily view content that is already in the public domain so that you can easily add it to your discussion.

Why did we start this site? We started this site to help people who are coping with medical conditions and need help in their quest for information, answers and hope. Sometimes it can be really helpful to communicate with someone who has already gone through a similar situation. For example, Jen-Jen is a young girl who is suffering from an extremely difficult medical condition. Her parents are desperately seeking answers so that they can help save their daughter’s life. This site gives them the ability to reach out to people across the globe who may be able to help find a solution. You may be able to help her or someone like her. Or, you may need help for yourself. Not all medical conditions are life-threatening, but chronic conditions sure feel like a life sentence that want to rob your vitality. Join HealthandSharing.com and start sharing, caring and preparing for your journey to full health. Meanwhile, you can use this site to help others who need you help, advice and support.

Who Started this Site? This site was started by a practicing orthopedic spinal surgeon and a back surgery patient. The inspiration came from years of practicing medicine, educating patients online and providing patient advocacy. However, during the quest for helping patient’s heal, it became apparent that the current health care system didn’t accommodate the need for support from patients who have gone through similar situations. The internet makes that easy. Thank you for considering the HealthandSharing.com site for hosting your CIRCLE, or neighborhood, to discuss and share information with your group. In addition to being an executive in the medical device industry Jill is also a spinal surgery patient. In 2005, she herniated a disc in her lower back during a ski trip. As a result, she has become an advocate for patients everywhere, working to ensure that their access to high quality and high tech care continues to be available in the United States.

Jill lives in Memphis, TN and sits on the Board of Directors for several important organizations in the Memphis area, including: National Civil Rights Museum, The Church Health Center, Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering Charter School and The Leadership Academy.
