What is a Circle

Home > What is a Circle?

A CIRCLE is a created when two arcing points come together. Or when two or more people start interacting together in a conversation. In the HealthandSharing.com site you can initiate a customized CIRCLE by signing up as a leader, selecting a topic from the comprehensive network list and inviting others to join you. The CIRCLE that you set up can be customized with your content, our content, different levels of privacy and as many members as you choose. Think of a CIRCLE as a neighborhood. Like a neighborhood, you can either build your own or join an existing block. You can have a gated community, or a very open and public space. It's up to you.

What is a good use of a CIRCLE? A CIRCLE can be used in many different ways. It would be excellent for an already defined group of people, perhaps an existing club who was looking for more functionality and flexibility in communicating as a group. Or a CIRCLE can be set up very publicly, inviting people into the CIRCLE to share. People with chronic conditions are documented as one of the most active searchers of health information. After you get your CIRCLE set up with content and some active conversations, ask for more information and members, chances are that others who are seeking similar information will find your CIRCLE and may even want to join the conversation.

How do I set up a CIRCLE? Go to HealthandSharing.com and set up a free account. You will have the ability to make several choices about privacy and sharing a long the way. Select options that best meet your goals for establishing the CIRCLE. You will be asked to select a name to help identify the CIRCLE. This name could include the chronic disease or topic that you want the CIRCLE to focus on. Once your CIRCLE is established you can start aggregating content and conversations within your custom built CIRCLE. Content can come from your research and others. You and your members will have the ability to control the content whether it's a video, article, pdf document, etc. You are in charge.

How do I attract members to my CIRCLE? While the site is still new it may be necessary to reach out to traditional forums and groups to invite people to participate in your CIRCLE. Think about inviting a mix of people who have been managing a chronic illness or condition for a period of time and some people who have been newly diagnosed. Those who have had the condition for awhile will most likely have amassed great information and insight that they can share with the people who have been newly diagnosed and are seeking information and advice. Meanwhile, providing support to each other along the way. By having a mix of these two groups your CIRCLE conversations will become more useful and therapeutic to everybody's overall experience.
